Buddhism: A Science of the Mind -- Interreligious Council Meeting December 8th

Buddhism: A Science of the Mind
A talk by Jan Puckett, Council member and Buddhist
December 8th Council Meeting 6:15 – 7:45

Guests are welcome!

The main aim of Buddhist practice is to gain greater understanding of the nature of mind. Only through understanding the nature of our own mind are we able to alleviate suffering, not just our own, but also that of other beings. Jan will discuss the origins of Buddhism, how it changes as it travels to different countries, and its relevance to us here in the 21st century.

Jan is an anesthesiologist in private practice in San Antonio. She has been a practicing Buddhist for 23 years. She is director of Rigpe Dorje Center, a Buddhist meditation center founded by Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche III, a teacher of the Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. It is a branch of Rigpe Dorje Foundation, a non-profit charitable organization.
